Hey hey,

I’m doing a network discovery, using Active directory to detect my machines, and to create domain related groups…

The discovery ends after 5 minutes, with a message of

Status: failed (The size limit for this request was exceeded)

It discovers around 70 % of my machines but doesn’t add them into a OU groups in the Computer catalog…

What am i doing wrong…

Interesting. How many machines are we talking about?

So it doesn’t add the 70% it found to the Computer Catalog, or it doesn’t create the groups in the Computer Catalog, or both? Or something else? :slight_smile:

Its around 2500 client machines, NT, 2K & XP, it adds around 70% of them straight into the root of Computer catalog but isn’t adding them directly into their Domain or their OU’s

And is the domain detected correctly? I.e. if you look at one of the machines, does it have the “domain” value set correctly?

And an obvious question - is the discovery task configured so that it creates the domain groups?

Yeah the Domain is detected ok, and Create domain related groups is selected…

Could you please check the following for me?

  1. how many machines did it insert, exactly? (this basically equals to the number of events in the task’s session minus 2 (the start & stop events))

  2. what does a typical event entry in the session say? Computer “name” detected and inserted to the “group” – what is group? The correct domain name, or something else??
