Finding Processes that are Running on Vista

One more question, how can I find out what processes are running on Windows Vista, such as run.dll or whatever?

Is there a good website that you use which can tell you the safe and not so safe processes that run on Windows Vista?

I want to maybe download HiJackThis and test it out on Vista, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to recognize any new Vista-specific processes that were not on Windows XP.

Process Explorer could show processed, loaded dll, etc.

Google the name of the process.
I think it’s impossible to list safe or unsafe processes… By the way, some infected process has the same name of the clean ones…

It can.

Another program that can do this for you is What’s Running which is free.
Once installed and run, click on the Modules tab to view the running dll’s, etc.

There are also tabs to show Processes, Services, IP Connections, Drivers, Startup, etc.

As with any such programs, please be careful with what actions you take.

Winpatrol can also tell you what processes are running and can help in protecting your system.

If you update to WinPatrol PLUS then you can click on the running application and see a lot more information. Woof.
