Firefox 3.5.2

I noticed that Firefox 3.5.2 is now out at the Firefox website.

Does anyone know if they have fixed the problems mentioned earlier in Firefox 3.5, and is it now safe to install Firefox 3.5.2?

It’s safer than 3.5.
I’ve waited enough to upgrade my computer from 3.1.11 to 3.1.12 and then 3.1.13. After all, I’ve got 3.5.2.
Working well here on Vista 32bits.

I don’t know how many times I recommended this but you can always check a new version with the portable version. If you copy (not “move”) the content of your current profile for Firefox to ‘FirefoxPortable\Data\profile’ directory, you will be able to test how it works with your current settings.

+1
Just to add to Rumpel, I use the portable version as my usual browser, and it is a pretty good idea to test the portable version
3.5.2.Works well for me

BTW, you don’t have to run it portably, you can just run it from somewhere on your pc if you want

Roro,

Please trust me I’m using the latest Firefox v3.5.2 and is safe see attachment  along with the latest add-on security into firefox

  1. NoScript v1.9.7.9
  2. WOT (Web of Trust)
  3. Ghostery v2.0.0
  4. Finjan Secure Browsing v1.314
  5. VerificationEngine v2.7.0.22
  6. Adblock Plus v1.1

It’s unsafe not to install it as soon as it’s available. It fixes several vulnerabilities, which are more vulnerable to exploitation in old versions whenever Firefox gets a security update. Research has indicated that not applying security patches in a timely fashion is a huge problem and is a prevalent cause of compromised systems. (Sorry, I can’t find the URLs right now, but I’m pretty sure it’s been discussed here in General Topics.)

Fx 3.5.2 also fixes some of the usability bugs in Fx 3.5 and Fx 3.5.1.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all your replies. I updated to 3.5.2 on my desktop XP SP3 computer, and will see how it goes for a day or two, then update my Vista laptop. 8)

Roro,

Have you included some of these security add-on into your foxfire

  1. NoScript v1.9.7.9
  2. WOT (Web of Trust)
  3. Ghostery v2.0.0
  4. Finjan Secure Browsing v1.314
  5. Adblock Plus v1.1

What do you have to protect yourself while using the latest firefox version.

If you used the portable version, you could check it on both machines through USB stick. However, if you’d like to go for what you fit yourself, I don’t insist. After all, it’s your computers and your decisions.

Oh SH*T, after reading all this stuff on firefox’s security bug on version 3.5.1 it makes me think is my computer is secured as I had version 3.5.1 upgrade as soon as it came out until I upgraded to 3.5.2 this week.

I wonder if it is worth to uninstall my firefox browser completly and go to there website and installing 3.5.2 from scratch so there are no version 3.5.1 registry item’s in my computer.

And what is Ghostery and what is it used for, in my plugin I have no-scripts, adblock plus, keyscramble, wot, finjan.

Not necessary or desirable if you already have Firefox 3.0.13, 3.5, or 3.5.1 installed. Just select Help > Check for Updates.

Thanks Alan for letting me know I’m safe, I install 3.5.2 as soon as it came out and firefox was urgently requiring me to install it ans the funny thing was I just found out there was a security hole in 3.5.1 on when 3.5.2 was about to be released.

So I had 3.5.1 installed for about 3 months and not knowing about the security holes.

You’re welcome.

???
Fx 3.5.0 was released June 30 and Fx 3.5.1 was released July 16, so maybe it just seems like it was three months.

Anyway, don’t worry. Most vulnerabilities (security holes) are unknown to anyone until they’re discovered. Most of the known ones are known only to the good guys, and no one else is told about them until they’re patched. The few remaining public unpatched vulnerabilities are usually fixed quite quickly. Just keep yourself updated and practice safe hex.

Edit: I finally found the article I mentioned previously about the problem of many people not applying security updates right away. Please excuse my just appending them to my reply to you, Northeast.

Northeast, see this topic, it should help explain

I installed 3.5.2 on my machines with no problems. I hadn’t seen Ghostery and Finjan before. Thanks Speedy PC.
BTW, I have been looking at Firefox addons, and there are so many. Are there any others that other forum members think are very important to Security and should be installed?
