Firefox/IE downloading issue

Hi!

(I would search but the search function returned a database error)

I seem to be experiencing a downloading issue with Avast Home - Firefox and IE downloads stops midway without resuming. I did a system re-install and found only after installing Avast would this occur, and the only fix I can find is to uninstall Avast.

Is this a common error? Are there any other solutions? I quite like Avast - so I’d rather have it installed

SYSTEM:

CPU: Core Duo 1.7GHz
RAM: 2x512MB
HDD: 60GB
LAN: Realtek
WLAN: Intel

Thanks

Maybe infected computers avoid the download of antivirus.
Can you try from another computer?
Are you downloading from the official site www.avast.com ?

I am downloading from the official site indeed. Also, I have AVG (I checked, it wasn’t a combination of both issue). I don’t think my computer has been infected with a virus - a clean hard drive with a clean install of windows, and the first thing I do is put up a firewall (Zone Alarm) and anti-virus.

Is zone alarm allowing ashwebsrv access

Yes.

Have or had?
Disable is not enough…

Have and Had.

Have - it’s installed.

Had - uninstalled it, installed Avast. Downloading stops. Uninstalls Avast, installs AVG.

So, is your IE working now only with AVG antivirus?
If so, the problem will be on avast + ZA…

I once had a similar issue and believed it was due to avast. However, I later found that it was a corrupt configuration of my Netgear router that caused the issue. Do you use a router at all? If so, have you tried a factory reset of your router to the default settings and re-confiruing it? That worked for me.
Cheers.

I have a DLink Router, and all of my other computers on it router works (none of which has Avast, I might add), and IE (&Firefox) doens’t work with Avast, but works with AVG + ZA.

This sounds a bit like the good old Privacy setting issue (ZA problem) When ZA Privacy Setting are set i.e. ON Cookie Control (main culprit I feel)/Add Blocking and Mobile Code Control. Some are able to have these set to medium however all 3 set at High in most cases is the cause of this problem.
I have all 3 ZA settings OFF without a problem in either FF or IE7
