I’ve just started using Avast this week, and have experienced a problem with Firefox/internet. Avast automatic updates was on, and I noticed that if I went onto internet and an update was available, it downloaded OK (and a message came up to say that it had done so) but then Firefox would freeze. If I exited Firefox I could not get access to internet again, and had to reboot computer in order to do so. I’ve now turned off automatic updates, in order to see if this cures it OK.
Well I have firefox 1.5.0.2 and no problems after avast updates, since I’m on dial-up I have mine set-up to ask if an update is available…
What is your OS ?
What version of avast are you using 4.7.817 is the latest ?
What version of firefox are you using ?
Ensure you have the latest versions of both and try again.
I’m using XP Home SP2 with Firefox 1.5.0.2 and Avast was version 4.6.763 but I’ve now updated to 4.7.817 as you suggested. I’ve turned automatic update back on again for Avast - just have to wait and see what happens! Cheers for your help!
