I run Firefox in sandbox mode, Avast is 8. If I already have Firefox running and I click a link in an email or link in a program I get an error message saying Firefox is already running but not responding.
Is there a way to fix this or would it compromise security?
I’ve never used sandbox mode for firefox (I ‘think’ you need to buy Avast for that) but try opening Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Delete then click on “Start Task Manager”) go into “Applications” and see if you can see FireFox there. See the Status next to it, if it says “Not responding”, then try and click on “End Task” for Firefox. Or try restarting Firefox.
One time when I was trying to open Firefox, it kept saying Firefox is already open, when I didn’t have it open. I restarted the computer and then it worked. Not sure why it did that though, I can’t remember if it wasn’t responding and I tried to close it then open it again or maybe it was a malware… Not sure.
But I’m not sure if your problem is firefox or Avast’s Sandbox, you’ll have to wait for someone who knows more about that to come… Because I don’t know…
It might help if you told us what version of Windows you have. (If you don’t know, click on the “Start Button” on the bottom left corner of your screen, right-click “Computer”, Select “Properties”. It will says basic stuff about your computer.)
I don’t know if I helped or not, I doubt it. Im NO computer expert…
Thanks, it’s Win 7 x64.
I think it’s down to the sandbox not allowing the links to open firefox again. Usually the link would open in the already open browser.
