Firefox shutdown issue

I’m running Avast on both my Mac (Yosemite OS) and a PC (Win7). I use Firefox as my preferred browser. When ever I attempt to shut down Firefox on either one of these computers it will not completely shutoff. I have to go into the OS (Finder or Task Manager) and kill it. The only thing in common between the two computers (other than Firefox itself) is Avast. Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem with Firefox and Avast?

Since avast for pc’s and avast for mac’s are two different versions (kernels), I doubt it is avast.
