Firewall Blocks Hyper-v traffic

I have had a search of the forums, but I cant seem to fin d the answer to this…

Using Avast! free edition, I have hyper-v running on my Windows 8 machine with 2 vms running web services - the Avast firewall is blocking traffic to and from these VMs - where would I configure the exception, and how?

many thanks

Jimmy

Avast free does not have a firewall

Ah, it would be the free trial I am in, apologies for the confusion…

Same question though :stuck_out_tongue:

do you get a popup message? … what does it say?

No, no pop up message, all i know is, I stop the avast firewall, my VMs can talk to the internet again. I start the firewall, they get cut off…

Bump, any ideas?

Go to the settings for the firewall and allow them there.

“Go to the settings for the firewall and allow them there.” - Could you be please more specific? I need to know, what exactly to change there in order my Hyper-V VM to have the internet traffic, as my host machine does. Thank you in advance.

@Cton did you notise the date and year this topic was created … i guess not.

And @Eddy is no longer here so he will not reply to your post

Could you please help with an advice?

NOTE:The Network profiles control the settings which determine how strictly Firewall protects your PC.

Private: a lower level of security suitable for when your PC is connected to a trusted network such as your home or work network.
This profile enables better connectivity, and permits all communication within the network.

Public: a higher level of security suitable for when your PC is connected to a public network such as in a cafe or airport.
Because public networks present greater security risks, no incoming communication is permitted when this profile is set.

Ок, thank you.

I have now allowed everything under Virtual Machine Connection, but still, if the Avast Firewall is on, then no Browser can work in the VM. Once I disable the Avast Firewall, then it works just fine. Please, see the screenshot and tell me, if there is something to be changed. Thank you in advance.

Have you puplic or private network

I have resolved the issue now. To answer your question from the last post, I have the Private Network setting under Network Connection.
The Application Rule for the Virtual Machine Connection was the proper step, but it came out (after playing a lot around) that in order to take effect, I have to Turn Off / Turn On Avast firewall once. I am not sure if this is supposed to be this way, if yes, then it could be a good addition to the article, if it isn’t, then you could raise this to the respective team internally.
Thank you for your assistance.

I have no idea, i dont use avast anymore it has to many bugs and annoyments
