i have installed 5.0.677 version of avast anti virus. the problem i am facing is the firewall cannot be switched ON. what exactly is the problem and how can it be started. before using the full version of avast i have tried the free version for more than 3 months and was very much satisfied with it. kindly guide me…

Do you know what the problem was and how it was resolved as it might help others in the future ?
I take it that this was the AIS (Avast Internet Security) version of avast as that is the only version of avast with a firewall ?

I would certainly like to know how this was solved as I’m still running AIS without the firewall. 
Why? Doesn’t a reinstallation solve it?

My computer was working fine with Free Version, upgraded to full suite, firewall not installing … free tech said for a mere $170 US they can fix all my software problems. They said “don’t take to tech, they will cost just to look at your computer, let us help” … 6 hours later, nothing on the suite works and they are still tinkering with it (and yes I am chained to it while they work on it)… I think they are holding out until I pay them, the day started out without the firewall … now nothing on the suite works. Buy symantec or AVG.
