Hi, I just changed my parents’ computer from norton to avast. I purchased a 3 pc license, one for theirs, and one for mine, and one to have extra. When I got my parents’ computer up and running, it said that the firewall couldn’t start. I installed Avast premier on my PC, and have had no issues with it, at all. what should I do, I installed both programs the same.
did you remove Norton using norton removal tool?
have you tried a couple of reboots?
if still problems, try uninstall avast from ad/remove programs … on last popup box there will be a option to repair avast install
Thanks, i have tried a couple restarts, i will try rearing it. If that doesn’t work, ill get back to you.
if needed you find link to vendors removal instructions / tools here https://www.avast.com/en-us/faq.php?article=AVKB11#artTitle
I think I have it all removed now, and i have Avast repaired, and the computer is restarting, so ill see when it finishes. it takes a LONG time to restart though.
it takes a LONG time to restart though.do you wan us to check it?
to check what, the program?
the computer, for anything that should not be there … it is just running a program and attaching two diagnostic logs
No thanks, I’m a very tech savy and smart kid with this stuff. I know that there is alot of unwanted programs, but my parents do not want me getting started in that tonight. On the other hand, Avast is still refusing to start the firewall, after the restart, and after the repair.
Avast is still refusing to start the firewall, after the restart, and after the repair.OK ... the same diagnostic logs may help finding out why
See instrucions here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
