Hey one of the BIG things that made me goto AVASt was THE FIREWALL ;D( FOR ROOTED DEV.) . Bu the new version removes it :o??? What’s the explanation ??? Even if you needed to root - that was the main reason for me rootin- the firewall is a great function( for example in my daughters tablet it blocks all the crap of children’s apps that always try to download more stuff than they are supposed to…
If this is a final and no come back removal of features - then Thank you - I can also stop my subscription and go find something else. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
until Now this update seems just EyeCandy - MAterial BAsed. Very Beautiful - BUT REALLY no ADDED VALUE or FUNCTIONALITY. Is this the usage of an AV suite like Avast???
we are currently evaluating reimplementation of the firewall. The previous version (=implementation) doesn’t work very well in some cases and we would like to be in top quality if we are going to reintroduce it to the app.
As for the license (subscription), we’ll be cancelling those for all the users in the upcoming days (it’s gonna take a while) so you don’t need to worry about that.
thanks for the info. The firewall had some snags but it worked most of the times ( apps got blocked most of the times - had some that didn’t - like MS office apps).
And for the Subscription- No worry it’s already done (renewal cancelled)
thank you bye
Yes, firewall was for rooted devices only and needed to be manually enabled and set up.
Shields should be working. The crash you’re experiencing, when does it happen? Do you do something in the app or does it just crash when on the background?
I’m not in charge of that and haven’t been for years so I can’t really help you. The only thing I can do (and did) is to notify the ones responsible for the Google Play listing of our apps.
Actually the space for the changelog on Google Play is fairly limited. 500 characters could reflect 10 changes at most while there are usually more than a 100 changes between versions so it’s always a compromise there. Sometimes it says better what actually changed, sometimes it doesn’t, that’s unfortunately the reality. We usually try to provide only the biggest changes and then the responsible persons somehow try to compress it into the 500 chars.
Second request to bring the firewall back. There’s a million AV apps out there, but not everyone includes a firewall. That option is the MAIN reason I use AMS. Without it you have taken a major step backwards. I wish I didn’t update. Please bring it back soon. If not, I am sorry but I will need to look for another AV app with a firewall.
Dammit Avast. Just pulling functionality out of the blue is not cool. I actively use that firewall to keep connected (messaging, navigation, local info) when I’m roaming but making sure that the data hog apps don’t get the chance to suck my data limit dry.
Similar to the other users complaining here, if the functionality isn’t back the next time if have to go abroad, that’s the end of Avast for me.
“in about a month”
Let’s wait till the end of march to see if it is back or not.
“Best” is often a matter of opinion and what you want to do.
E.G. What is better ? A race-car or a truck ?
I really would not like to use a race-car when I’,m moving to another home.
But I also would not prefer a truck if I want to really drive fast.
