Version 1203 - firewall set to “ask” for internet permissions. All works well.
Did the upgrade to the “new” 1289 and nope - not a single application is being caught by firewall - all are given full access, and are not even added to the application listing.
Back to 1203 again unless anyone has thoughts.
Win 7 x64 ultimate, AIS 1289 (the latest link) - licensed.
Use function repair
Don,t forget restart your computer

Did that. No change. Installed on another machine with a clean win7x64 and have the same issue.
You can remove AIS with aswclear. Don,t forget to install the new version of AIS 6.0.1289

OK …let’s see…yep - said I already was using 1289. Guess I forgot to mention that I had installed 4 times, each time going into safe mode after the uninstall to use aswclear.
It is 1289 - when I go back to 1203 the firewall works just fine. I already have a senior tech looking at it through support. At least he was able to half-produce my issue when chatting with him.
Put the champagne glasses away boys - 1289 isn’t the end of this failure of an update.

Strange, seems to be working OK here.
So the Application Rules window is completely empty?
Thanks

@ricksterto, if you use 1289 build right now (and firewall is still not working), please run this tool: http://public.avast.com/~kurtin/osrbang_x64.exe and click on the red button. This will restart your computer. Please compress (rar/7z) c:\windows\memory.dmp and upload it to our ftp (http://support.avast.com/index.php?languageid=1&group=eng&_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=18). I’ll use the dump to recheck several internal structures to see if firewall is really working, or there’s a conflict with other installed application. Thanks.

Yes the apps rules are completely empty - other than those created automatically when avast installed. So avast (auto-decide) and a few microsoft. When I start any program with net access, there is no message / alert and the program is not added.
I just downloaded the tool above and will post for you.
EDIT:
I know the firewall isn’t working as I have clicked “update” on a few programs and they went to the net happily to check.
Ummm…where is that setting to create a dump on BOS again - I didn’t get a dump log on the running the crash app.
