I’ve been using Avast since V.4 but have never before experienced the following behavior, which has occurred during two full scans over the last week or two:
At several points during the scan, the firewall (Kerio Personal Firewall) stops the scan and displays a box with the following message:
<avast! service is trying to execute ‘sf’. Permit the event if it is expected and intended. Deny this event if it is undesirable (can be caused by a virus, trojan horse or an application breaching this computer’s security).>
I let the scan proceed, but elected not to “make a rule”, just in case this event was due to an infection. So as it stands now, the message will continue to appear whenever I do a scan.
Is there a problem here, or can I just go ahead and permit the event on a recurring basis?
I would add here that I just did a Google search and this same problem appears on this forum involving three or four different firewalls. I didn’t see any real resolution however.
The problem must have occurred due to a version update or virus definition update because I have been using V5 since it was first released.
