Firewall module blocks all of internet

What about the name you gave it ?

I was not asked to give it a specific name, so i just uploaded it as it was wich is “avast_120718_230002.dmp”.

Well. At least now Avast! team can know to whom the dump file belong to and may answer here. Good luck.

Ah yeah considering i can see my ip next to my posts i kinda figured they would put 1 and 1 together :stuck_out_tongue:
Thanks for thinking along.

I kinda wish they would somehow let me know if they did find the file, then again if they didn’t they wouldn’t know to look for my topic ?
I can understand things taking awhile, but now i don’t even know if they are actually busy with it.
And it is slightly annoying that as soon as you pay for avast it turns of the internet :stuck_out_tongue:

I did ask the Avast Team if they are working on it or received it. Since it is the weekend, we probably won’t hear anything now, but they should respond in the thread. Should I hear something, I will let you know in the thread. Thank you for your patience.

Cool thank you very much !
The patience for me isn’t the problem, i am a eve online player :stuck_out_tongue:
The thing is it’s my dads pc and he has a tad less patience and keeps asking haha

I’m sorry, but I’m afraid I don’t see the point of the original suggestion (though I might be missing something). avast.setup is the updater process… so if there was a problem with updating the program or virus definitions, then maybe the dump could reveal something - but not for system-wide problems with the network.
I don’t really know much about the firewall, Lukor could have more insights (and possibly simpler things to check), but if we’re talking about dumps, my guess is that the relevant ones here might be the firewall service (afwServ.exe), but most likely a full system dump would be needed.

Igor, will you be contacting Lukor or do you want me to PM him about this? The OP has been very patient. Or do you want the OP to do a full system dump for you? Please specify. Thank you.

Sooo ? what am i to do ?
Just wait or upload something else ?

Kinda still waiting here.

Did you create and upload the dump file requested:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=101561.msg814860#msg814860

Yes i did, we even had a small discussion about the name of the file here in the topic

The link I posted was a request for something other than the dump you created and discussed.

ah sorry, didn’t see that 1 your pointing at as a request as it seems to be more of an idea that that might be needed.
I also replied on that with the question if i should wait for the outcome of this file or should start uploading the other.

Anyways looking at https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=71 i have a little question.
4. When the computer restarts wait for the problem to occur.
Does this mean the “problem” of the regkey just created, or a problem with avast that should occur to be logged ?
Normally i don’t have a noticeable “problem” during boot, the only noticeable thing is that internet is not working while i can ping other pc’s in the network,
including the server which hands out the internet

At this moment the firewall module is NOT installed because if it is it can’t go on the internet
Does this affect the chance of problem discovery ?

If you remove the problem, then I guess finding out what causes the problem isn’t possible.
Wait for someone from Avast to give you further instructions.

I understand, but the annoying thing is that if i do install the firewall again i then yet again have to go trough the process of removing the installation completely to install again without the firewall, because using the change button in add/remove programs uninstaller will force it to go online for changes which isn’t possible with that firewall installed and my guess is with each time i uninstall/install i just get more and more registry left overs and what not, there’s the special uninstall tool for a reason, and i feel like that doesn’t even remove everything (still had sandbox directories all over my hd’s)

I kind of want to be done with this already, this really is not what i expected by buying software, not to mention anti virus/firewall.
Guess i’ll stick to free stuff myself other then the occasional game i’d buy.

I’m sorry I’ve been off the forum a few days due to an emergency. I had already PM’d Igor, but got no response. I’m now going to PM Lukor for assistance. In the meantime, follow the instructions above to get a full dump file and name it uniquely (giving us the name in the thread). I sincerely thank you for your patience.

Sadly atm i don’t have acces to his pc, hoping to get a chance tomorrow…
Also hoping those 2 you mentioned Igor and Lukor will actually respond sometime…

Hi Tekkie, Is this fixed yet. We are seeing same issues with firewall after updates. Thinking the firewall component just too buggy and (not optimised- slows everything down). Just run aswclear, reinstall without firewall component. Wait for avast to fix it up. :-\
