The Firewall needs a log file indicating what apps are being blocked. Otherwise the ‘Allow Selected’ becomes somewhat useless.
Why? Because some apps use other services/programs to do their work. For example, if you only allow access to say, ‘Google market’, then it doesn’t work. It requires something else to have access too (Linux Kernel, I think).
Without a log file, I have to just go through the app list and randomly start turning things on until the original program works. That’s a real nightmare.
Droidwall, for example, has a log file you can enable/disable to see what is going on.
So if a program doesn’t work, you turn the log on, run the program and see what is failing.
