firewall not turning on

I am having trouble with the firewall not turning on.

went to update product and it started to download chrome.
had to stop it with a reset. and did a system restore.

now it will not except password-
and comes up with a warning - “unable to start fire wall”

I would try to reinstall but am concerned that it will not except the password.

By doing a system restore you have most likely corrupted the avast instal… always turn off self protect before doing a restore

You need to do a new install… first remove with this http://www.avast.com/en-us/uninstall-utility

Then install again http://www.avast.com/en-us/download-software
