There seems to be a conflict with avast! IS v5 and sandboxie 3.44 (x64). Browsers are not being able to open. This problem did not occur with avast! v5 Free & Pro, as i have tried them both. Since everything worked fine while using the Pro version (and the free), i assume it is a conflict with the Firewall component of the IS suite. Has anyone else seen this problem?
Ya. Thats why i posted on both forums. I’m not sure which is conflicting. Maybe its something with the 64 bit firewall component? Coz the Pro and Free versions worked perfectly with sandboxie.
I tried a 64 bit version (343-21) of Sandboxie recently on Win7/64, no problem and no conflict with anything, apparently. Except for reasons, off topic here, I don’t like Sandboxie very much and decided to uninstall >>>> process froze completely, it was a no go. I had to use system restore to get rid of it. So there must be at least a compatibility issue between Sandboxie and the version of Windows that I’m using.
I’m running avast! 5 with sandboxie 3.44 in windows 7 x64 and i have no problems. These 2 flawlessly co-exist with PCTools firewall as well.
But for some reason there are conflicts between avast! 5 Internet Security. Not able to figure out why.
no, I haven’t. What makes you think it’s a conflict with Avast ? and btw there’s only one component that could conflict with Sandboxie, in IS/Pro, it’s the virtualization mode… if you managed to launch an always virtualized (by avast) program through Sandboxie, for instance.
The browsers i run sandboxed thru sandboxie are not forced sandboxed by avast! as well. They are only run sandboxed with sandboxie.
Running sandboxed thru avast! virtualization(without sandboxie) works fine.
Wish i could figure this one out. Really liked IS suite. Will keep trying though, to figure out whats wrong. For now, avast! free and sandboxie work perfectly 2gether.
I’m having the same problem on XP SP3 (32 bit). I am not choosing the Avast sandbox for firefox, but for some reason my sandboxie will not now work.
Free version of Avast caused no conflict (sigh), so I am now regretting upgrading
I would switch to Avast sandbox, but as far as I can see, there is no option to open files sandboxed via Avast, so at the moment I am really missing my old pal, Sandboxie.
How do you use this feature for the sandboxed browsers? You’re right there’s no option to copy files/regs outside the sandbox, but do you use it for browsers? Thanks.
