I have Avast Internet Security with a paid subscription and for some reason my Firewall profile constantly changes to Public…Even though this is a Desktop PC that is hard wired and the IP Address is assigned to my computer by MAC address so it doesn’t change. I keep changing it to private and even turned Automatic Profile Switching off but it still does it…
This public profile setting blocks LAN connectivity to my PC so when I turn it on I cannot RDP into it or access my files remotely, I have to log in manually and switch the profile back, which is a real pain.
Rebooted, when the PC came back up, I still couldn’t remote in, I was prompted with a Private vs Public network dialog, I chose Private. I noticed a new profile was created.
Rebooted again and I could remote in and the profile stayed Private.
I have the same problem and it keeps coming back.
I deleted the profile in the “Firewall” settingsseveral times, renamed it over and over again to my chosen profile name, I have ticked and unticked that Avast can automatically switch profiles and notify me, yet the settings change on a weekly to daily basis. This is getting so annoying that I am thinking of ditching Avast Premier altogether.
Is there another solution like config or registry parameter change?
It keeps coming back to PUBLIC, whatever you do it will still revert back, it may not be immediately or will count for months 'till it happens again, but it will happen! Think the Avast Internet Security Firewall settings likes or LOVES PUBLIC very much, no matter what you do its still goes back to it eventually, that is what is super duper weird about it?!
And i bet you, either AVAST don’t know how to fix it or its a bug that they won’t look into, Please AVAST try to look into it, we got 50 computers using your software and each time we have to revert them to PRIVATE one at a time or when it happens to each of the computers!
Put a freaking button there to lock it into PRIVATE mode for the love of it!
Hope you could find the best solution for this issue ASAP!
