I have tried various firewalls on my work computer, but they all block the Insight Siemens building automation program. Don’t know if you mods are familiar with this type of thing, but looking to install a firewall program on the work computers which will allow safe surfing (as I know all people will do at work if allowed internet access) We have tried every free firewall out there and all seem to regard the program as a threat. Anti virus programs don’t have a problem with it, but firewalls always do, even when I allow the program, it will be blocked, causing the program to not run and also even block remote access to that computer. Usually what it blocks is the “sentinal” part of the program which allows the communications boards out in the field to communicate with the server computer. I know this is a long shot as even the Siemens Techs can’t figure it out, as well as myself, but no harm in trying, right?
Just a quick note, we run thru an router and your basic internet provider. We have only 2 computers connected. 1 is our server and the other is our lunch room computer in another building. I don’t trust router firewalls (as anyone can contest), tho I would like to install a firewall that recognizes Sentinel. I do use avast! on both of these work computers and glad that I do
