Firewall questions and possible alternative advantages?

does the firewall stop network traffic going in both directions? for example coming from the apps server to the phone, AND the phone from pushing information to the internet?

that would be great if it did. for example, i have a camera application. all it needs to do is take photos. nothing more. but it wants to read my personal information, sms, log data, or what ever. could i use this firewall on that app, so that even if it does look around and collect data, it wouldnt have the ability to send it off?

I’ve done the same question before (if I remember correctly), i.e., if the the firewall is inbound AND outbound protection. I don’t remember the answer.

cool thanks for the replys.

so the firewall bans the outbound traffic from apps to their servers. in other words, their servers wont be getting my “statistical data” correct?

That is correct, yes.
