firewall unable to be turned on since last update

hi,
just updated the software and since rebooting my PC i cannot turn the firewall on.

suggestions?

Repair avast!:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → avast!
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

appreciate the reply, thanks.

for some reason the ‘repair’ option isnt available for me when avast is highlighted. it is for some other programs, but not all.

any other ideas?

If there is no repair option then :

Download Avast Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
Avast Free
Avast Pro
Avast Internet Security
Avast Premier
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel

[]Run the uninstalltool and accept the reboot to safe mode
[]Once complete reboot your system
[*]Reinstall Avast

I too am having the same trouble.
I tried using uninstaller then reinstall.
Tried control panel uninstall then reinstall
tried repair.

Still can not turn on firewall.

Same problem here after a new win 7 64 pro install. Worked fine on XP pro sp3 32. Any help greatly appreciated

EDIT 3 April: Used Avast Uninstall Utility. Re-install. Problem Solved.

I too am having this issue and have tried both repairing and uninstall and re-install with no luck.

Windows 7 Home Premium

Edit:

Since posting I tried the repair option again and it fixed the issue. My firewall is working now.
