Firewall will cannot be started

I’m using Windows 10.0 and have been for the past 2 months. Just today I got an error message from Avast that my Firewall was not turned on. I opened the user interface and clicked the link to turn on the firewall. I get an error message that says: “unable to start Firewall”. Consequently, secure DNS can’t run on this network. Any ideas as to what the problem may be?? Has anyone else run into this?

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.
