Hi guys, I’m a technician working on a compaq vista laptop (lucky me eh ) and cannot get avast f/w to run despite avast repairs, re-installs, completely clearing the registry and program data folders, appdata folders, temp folders etc. So, before I reinstall vista after backing up data can anyone give me a pointer? I’ve looked into the registry for corrupt windows keys but stopped as its simpler to re-install the OS…
Have I missed something? After researching it I’ve never found anyone with an answer except people getting lucky with the repair from programs & features.
yeah all av removed, found traces of mcafee (scrurity tool) and norton plus avast old remnants whilst mooching in the prog data folders & registry as well as conduit and other adware. I was hoping to keep a few programs for him but will have to replace them and I think I’ll just factory reset it, remove the pre-installed av and try a fresh installation thanks for the replies anyway
I’ve just re-installed VISTA and sp2 then installed avast and its doing the same thing? can anyone confirm its vista compatible please? maybe they’ve left it behind (don’t blame them lol)
