???Does Avast Home Pro have a built in firewall? My Windows security alert keeps telling me I have no firewall turned on now that I have uninstalled Norton 05 and installed Avast Home version. Windows does say that it does not detect all firewalls on the security pop-up. Thanks for any answers to my questions.

Hello
avast! don’t have build in firewall, but there are a lot of firewalls which work great with avast!
You can use the search option for more info about the firewalls
Welcome matt04 to the forum, you should at least turn the windows firewall on as it is better than none at all.
Hi Matt04
You can use Zone Alarm 6.1 , it is freeware for home users.
It has blocked more than 2.000 intrusions (doesn’t say what kind) during the 2 months period I am using it.
I hope it helps

or you can use Sygate Person Firewall…
http://www.simtel.com/product.download.mirrors.php?id=53687
Sygate has been bought out by Symantec and Sygate’s Personal Firewall solutions have been discontinued, support for existing pro (not free I believe) users will continue for a while.
So perhaps it would be better to chose a firewall that will be continuing development.
So what do you suggest?
I tried Zone Alarm and I think really don’t like the interface…
Wich I don’t have with sygate.
Kerio works well with avast! Sunbelt have just acquired it:

The basic version is still free.
There are no other good firewall (free) then kerio, sygate or zonealarm? Because I tried kerio once and I didn’t liked it much…
Comodo is good if you’re willing to learn about TCP and UDP. For me, Green=good, red=bad is about as far as I want to go.
There are others:

You can search for them on the forum. Various people have tried all of the ones mentioned I think.
I believe Kerio to be the best of the free! You don’t have to LIKE it as long as it does the job!

i would get zone alarm, best one out there, ive tryed all the other firewalls and their not as good as zone alarm.
Well Zone Alarm didn’t had options that I really wanted to use… Like port control with TCP and UDP and the interface with the program control is a laughter. And quite annoying…
I am using Comodo now… And it looks promising.
I agree. From the research I did several months ago, Kerio seemed to be the best option, at least for my needs.
