Hello,

Alwil Software the makers of avast! antivirus seem to be developing a Personal Firewall. What are your comments on this?

and melih from comodo says

maybe someone should mention to them, then we can provide them our engine, so that they don’t need to develop their own Smiley We do have an OEM programme, where we can create a version for them.

A problem of AVAST! FW will be:
-Free version with shit protection an Pro version like ZA??

I’m sure ,like AVAST! AV, it will be lighter in resouces usage.

I would love to know where you get the information to make that kind of derogatory assumption ?

Especially when you have the example of avast 4 Home which provides very good protection even when compared with the Pro version it has all but the script blocker, enhanced user interface and automated options on detection, scheduling, etc.

Sorry a lot David.
But, I assume AVAST FW will be one of the best firewalls, but differences in Free and Pro version??
I use COMODO. In matousec tests is the best, V3 will have HIPS, and it’s for free.
I recommend AVAST! for everybody.

i would personally love to see an avast firewall because avast home antivirus has done me well over the years so i could imagine the firewall over betas and time will serve me the same.

This may be late but… I would also love to see a firewall put out by Avast considering how great their anti virus protection is, etc. A firewall put out by Avast might be my problem to searching for a “good” firewall.

An old fave’ of mine was discontinued, and the code was put up for sale, would’ve been great if it received support! FILSECLAB :smiley: I’m sure Avast will come out with a good firewall, too. Just hope it doesn’t have the same “bugs” that Comodo’s FW had when it first came out.

Vlk, or someone else with avast, has already stated that the avast firewall will not use another firewall engine but that avast will develop their own. Do a search in the forum and you can probably find the thread that contained that statement. So, this thread really has little need of continuing.
