Firewall

I just installed Avast Home Edition and my computer is still saying on the right bottom side in the “Windows” security alerts that I do not have a firewall running therefore I am exposing myself to danger. Can I do something about that using avast?

For now, you can go to control panel/security center and turn on the Windows firewall to protect you from incoming threats. Avast! is not a firewall, but coexists happily with most firewalls. There are discussions of the various available free firewalls at places like Wilders http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31 and if you do a search you can also find recommendations here. What OS are you using?

Sorry it took so long but I actually could not find it as quick as usuall I am using windows vista home edition.
There was no “MY Computer” icon to clk on and choose roperties I had to go to start and choose all programs then stumble through there.

Start button > Control Panel > Security Center > Firewall… enable it

You could also enable the outbound protection of the Vista firewall, but it isn’t very friendly, is rule based and you have to create the rules.
