First scan disappears when starting a new scan?

First of all, your captcha sucks. WTF is this?

Second of all, I do love Avast… lately, not so much. I spent many hours figuring out why RDP stopped working out of nowhere, and it was the firewall. Then more hours when my VPN stopped working out of nowhere, again due to Avast’s firewall. Nothing changed on my PC (win 10 pro) when this happened. When I can’t RDP into my work machine, I lose money, bottom line. I lost a TON of money figuring out what the issue was, and was no fault of mine, or any other software on my computer.

So today, I was scanning a USB drive and when I chose to scan something else, the scan of the USB drive disappeared. I couldn’t find any trace of the first scan. Can you tell me how to avoid this in the future? Why wouldn’t I be warned that “hey, you’re going to cancel the first scan if you start another scan” ?

I always right click on a directory or select multiple files when scanning with Avast. So I don’t open Avast, go to the scanning options, and start a scan. I only use the right click menu to start a scan.

How do I run two scans in parallel or in serial?

The captcha by its very nature has to be more difficult to prevent spam. However, it is only there for your first 3 posts.

I’m not sure if it isn’t running in the background as presumably the UI can’t only handle on scan at a time.
Have you checked the avastUI > Protection > Antivirus > Scan History, to see if it is recorded there ?

FEMPKB ... i think ;D

Recomended USB protection tool, used by many in this forum including the malware removal team

MCShield >> http://www.mcshield.net/

Note that this is not a AV and it only target those malware types that try to jump disk
It does so by behaviour and dont need signatures to do its work

There is nothing to do, you just install and forget. When you plug in a USB storage device it wakes up, does its work and goes back to sleep

Should be installed at all schools/hotels/print shops/foto shops/ internet cafe …

i have a question, do u still need this mcshield if u already have avast?
Im planning to install it.

It’s called layered protection. Since they cover a different part of your protection, they work as companions.

ah i see, tnx bob

You’re welcome.
