FIX AD Block!

The Adblock issue: refer to https://support.avast.com/en-au/article/29/#idt_3994 Open the Security and Priviacy Centre/Adblock/Settings and set it to Essential and it should work as it used to.

Apologies. i wrote this on April 1, it wasn’t meant to be an April Fool’s joke. Adblock worked at the time of writing. Now and since later on April 1, I’m having exactly the same issue as everyone else.

I am having the same issue. AB was set to balanced. Then to Strict with no results. I have a laptop (Dell) and I use the Avast secure browser. Here is my diagnostic information:

Tried as you suggested on multiple sites with the same results, no ads of any kind being blocked…

To the Avast team I’m about out of patience with this matter. Will revert back to using chrome/FF and uninstall ASB.

As stephen already mentioned, if you set the AD-Block on essential it wont change a thing.

I would like to get a statement from the Avast team about the matter.

Agree, it would be nice to get a statement from Avast. I now wonder if the other permitted extensions in the Secure browser do what they pretend to do, that’s my biggest concern.

My glass is still half full.

This worked a charm, Ty Bob for your assistance in this matter.

Always happy to help.

Thank you …This is super helpful

My pleasure. Let’s hope Avast fixes the problem soon.

I have to join this long list as well. My AD is active like the icon is green and it says its active, although it just hasnt blocked any ads or pop ups.

You have an alternative till it gets fixed. https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=256094.msg1597045#msg1597045

Hi. I am sorry for the problems caused by this bug. We are still investigating the issue. In the meantime, please do try the following steps to help us find the issue.

Go to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/storage-area-explorer/ocfjjjjhkpapocigimmppepjgfdecjkb?hl=en
Install this extension
go to secure://extensions/
Enable developer mode by selecting the slider in upper right corner
Click the “background.html” button in the adblock panel
After you expand the window, you can press the “Storage explorer” button
Wait a few minutes for the data to load
Send us screenshots of this page.

I hope that with your help, we will find a solution soon.

okay, srsly how much longer do we have to wait for an update ?!

I am also finding I have to turn on AdBlock in S&P Center settings every time I use ASB 89. (90 not yet available to me). Getting quite annoying.

The alternative is doing a great job. https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=256094.msg1597559#msg1597559

I got this far. What does this mean? There is no button labeled “background.html” and no adblock panel. The instructions are not clear.

“Click the “background.html” button in the adblock panel
After you expand the window, you can press the “Storage explorer” button”

There certainly is,

Here’s the storage item,

Okay, found it and did all that but AdBlock still not working.
