FixCamera.exe not detected by Avast?!

Why is this running harmful process not detected by Avast?

Can you upload it http://www.virustotal.com/ and scan it with 42 scanners? Give me the final link(after the scan is completed).

Unfortunately, I have deleted the file with some other tool.

Is it deleted or in quarantine ?

Deleted. That program was not anti-virus, it doesn’t have quarantine. :frowning:

you should have checked it at VirusTotal first and then sendt it to avast lab… to late now

It didn’t gave me the option to keep it. :frowning: Too bad.

Btw, does Sandbox save files? If yes, where?

Which files? Downloaded ones? Which are your sandbox settings regarding to this?

No, the files that I’ve allowed to be opened in Sandbox.

They’re in the original folder. avast does nothing with them (unless they’re infected).

You can just disable this at start-up…comes with a particular Chinese webcam, do you have one?

polonus

You might be right, I have Canyon. But I’ve read that it’s harmful. I’ve deleted it and the cam is still working.

According to PC Pitstop, that is not a harmful file but this is what they say:

FixCamera.exe - CameraFixer application from USB PC Camera Plus driver. Not a necessary program. fixcamera.exe uses excessive system and memory resources with no corresponding benefit. Applications such as these should be disabled to improve overall system performance.

Since it’s not malware, there is no reason for Avast to detect it as such. It just triggers the sandbox because it performs actions that are common to things that are dangerous.

Yup. You are completely right. I remember old anti viruses were detecting it. Everything is fine now. False alarm. Thanks ya all! ;D
