FixPolicies to be used in case a fake av infections...

Hello malware fighters,

Fake virus scanners make out 40% of malware to-day:
http://news.bitdefender.com/NW903-en--Beware-of-Fake-Antivirus-Products-According-to-BitDefender-Labs’-Top-E-Threats-in-November.html

In the case of an infection with fraudulous anti-virus, this script can come in handy for use on XP.
Download to your Desktop FixPolicies.exe, a self-extracting ZIP archive from here:
http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/BillCastner/FixPolicies.exe

• Double-click FixPolicies.exe
• Click the “Install” button on the bottom toolbar of the box that will open.
• The program will create a new Folder called FixPolicies,
• Double-click to Open the new Folder, and then double-click the file within: Fix_Policies.cmd.
• A black box will briefly appear and then close.

Use this after making a DDS scan and before fixing or deleting,

Thanks for posting this, Polonus.

What does FixPolicies.exe do? Repair Windows Registry? ??? Fix access rights? ???

Hi Tech,

It will repair any policies that have been affected by malware, viruses, uninstalls, etc. for when you have lost Internet connectivity that way. Could also now be part of other tools, I think here of ComboFix,

Thanks Polonus…

Just going to have a little look in the cmd file ;D

OK I see what it does, nice use of SWREG ( I hope it is the updated version released today ;D )
