flasget and avast

Hi all!I want to ask you something
Which file form avast’s folder do i need to add in the flashget menu(scan with antivirus software the downloaded files)
ashavast
ashdisp
or something other!
Thanks!

Neither of the ones you mentioned ;D
You need ashQuick.exe

Assuming that you installed avast! in the default folder, this is the path needed to scan downloads, C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe

thanks!

Neron, by FlashGet fault, it won’t scan files with spaces into their path
I tried to workaround this with Igor but I was not successful…

So, if you download a file called:
File Name With_Spaces inside.exe
it won’t be scanned :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s not a solution, but a workaround.
If you set Avast to scan changed/modified files they still should be scanned by the on-access scanner.

I believe I really did fix the problem with the spaces… any example where it doesn’t work?

My all spaced name files  :frowning:
Using version 1.65 beta1 of FlashGet…

Well if ti’s not working can’t flashget fix the problem ???
Or int the next upgrade of avast! ??? ::slight_smile: :-\

i’m not sure if i have the problem but i’m using v. 1.65

It’s strange… I really think I fixed the problem when I did similar fixes for usage in PKZIP.
I just checked and I don’t have any problems with FlashGet 1.65 - files with spaces are scanned correctly.

Igor, definitively I’m doing something wrong… It’s not working for me…

OK, I’ll create a new test version and send it to you, to see what’s going on there.

It was not necessary… sorry for the ‘extra’ work.
It’s working now… What did I do? Nothing… It’s strange… but let’s live 8)

Hi all!Now i see that there are files that are scanned and that are not and that depends on flashget setup. These are the file types that are scanned.(the files are in the flashget tools options file meneger.
.ZIP;.EXE;.DO?;.XL?;.COM;.BIN;.GZ;.Z;.TAR;.ARJ;.LZH;.SIT;.HQX;.TGZ;.DLL;.OCX;.VBX;.MP3
MP3 was added from me.I want to ask if there are other types that i should add to be fully protected.I want all important file to be scanned. But only the important, not files that just can’t be infected.
Thanks!

.VBS,.VBE,.JS,.JSE,.HTA,.WSF,.WSH,.SHS,.SHB,.HTM,.CHM,.BAS,.BAT,.CMD,.CHM,.RAR,.MST

Maybe a bit over the top, but its hard to tell without knowing which kinda files you normally download.

Surely it would be easier to have it scan all downloaded files? Rather than have to expand the list for new threats.

How to make it to scan all downloaded files

I don’t use flashget, but I would have thought the settings would allow for scan all of the files or allow use of wild cards, etc. If it doesn’t, I would suggest trying another that does. If that suits your needs then you could switch permanently.

I use Star Downloader, I find that a very good downloader (works with firefox, avant and IE, context menus), if you select scan with your AV, the default is to scan all files.

Sorry I can’t be of more help, not being a flashget user.

Thank you for the information!I added these file types. Thanks again!
This is the best antivirus forum! ::slight_smile: 8) ;D

Just add and asterisk into the file list:
