I’ve had my 2 Flash Drives since the day after Christmas.
Up to now, I’ve just simply pulled them out and inserted them when I need to, which isn’t very often. I only do that like once a week or once every 2 weeks when I update what’s on them.
NOW … am I supposed to be clicking on that Safely Remove Hardware Icon in the System Tray when I’m going to remove my Flash Drives? Or what’s the deal with that Icon?
Neither did a friend of mine, till one day she pulled it out. Next time she put it in it was FUBAR. When the light is on, the drive is spinning. That little green arrow is there for a reason. I teach Microsoft Office. Many student’s who do not listen, have to buy a new disk due to yanking it out without stopping it. at least 1 per class, per semester find out the hard way. Better be safe than sorry.
yes USB flash drive technology has been out for ages but was not popular until last five years because historically not a strong technology, with files and drive itself easily corrupted. I think things have changed somewhat but I still follow the advisory rather than pull flash drive out direct.
