** For avast 4.7.1074 Vista users who are having issues **

Hi all,

Last update: November 10

Anyone who’s experiencing problems with 4.7.1074 is now encouraged to install the new pre-release version (4.7.1083) which is supposed to fix the issues. For details on the 1.4.1083 build please see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=31426.0

Thanks
Vlk

I corrected the path to copy the file to; it should be Windows\System32\drivers, not just Windows\System32

Of course. Sorry for that.

I’m using Vista Home Premium 32bit and everything is working just fine. Hm…

Me too…

Hi,

I’m using Avast! Home v4.7.1074 under Windows Vista 64-bit, and everything is still working perfectly. I’m curious though, what are the changes in this version? avast! 4 Home/Professional Revision History only details up-to version 4.7.1043.

Regards,
Phant0m``

Yet another build of the driver has now been posted (05-11). If the previous driver didn’t solve the issue, please go with this new one.

Cheers

Hi Vlk

This build seems to have resolved my Raid issues, thanks for your help.

Excellent news, thanks for the ultra-fast feedback.

BTW a new build of avast (containing this fix) will be released pretty soon (this week).

Cheers

And, again, yet another build of the driver has now been posted (06/11). If the previous drivers didn’t solve the issue, please use this new one.

Hopefully, this one will be the final.

Cheers

Wow…you have NO idea what you put me through the last couple of days. Both my 32-bit Vista Home Premium machines, one HP desktop with Intel processors, one Toshiba laptop with AMD… were both rendered basically useless. Virus scans, system restores… GRRRRRRR! :frowning:

Glad I found this thread tonight… sure looks like I have my HP server back… now to test the Toshiba…

So… what was it with that little 45Kb file that wreaked so much havoc with Vista?!?

P.S. Thanks for the fix. I feel better now. I will let you know how the Toshiba goes. You should put the title of this thread in BLINKING BOLD TYPE

It’s a system driver, meaning that little file can indeed cause many problems.

Hi,
I just installed your new driver and it seems to be working fine. Opening Navigator used to take 1 sec, installed Avast, then it took 15 seconds to start, installed your new driver and now it takes 3 seconds. Other programs like Mail went from several minutes to start to 3 seconds when Avast is running.

Thanks guys, the updated driver did the trick!! Good thing only my laptop has Vista, Xp and an old Win2K system running fine.

I installed the version 4.7.1074 and I have the following problem AppHangB1.
Where can I find the version 4.7. 1083

You can find instructions on how to install the new beta HERE

Thank You. I installed it. It seem work without problems on my computer (vista home premium basic)

I had terrible problems to launch programs. Launching was slow and during the process even the mouse circle cursor vanished and the computer did not show any sign of life. Launching of Firefox took about 30s to 1 minute. I had the problems after the last Program update of Avast. Stopping all providers improved dramatically and switching them back on made it as bad as before.

Now I installed version 4.7.1083 and it seems to be much better. Thanks!

I use Vista Prof. on a Centrino Duo Notebook with Core 2 CPU T7400 2.17GHz with 2G RAM

Bumm, this is exactly one of the corrections that the new beta tries to do.
Welcome to forums. Thanks for reporting.
