For me home or pro?

Hi, I’m a lawyer and I have a question. Can I use for my work and my professional study, the free version “Home” of Avast? What does it mean “Commercial use”? Thanks in advance!

Define commercial in the sense of non-commercial use of avast! Home Edition

So, can i use the Home versione?

Are you using for Work purposes ie protecting you work computer??

Yes

I’m pretty sure if your using it in a buisness environment… you need to purchase Avast Professional.

Hi…

According to the Home edition download page:

“If you are not a home user, or you use your computer for profit, the avast! Home Edition is not licensed for such use, and you are asked to use the commercial version - avast! Professional Edition.”

And to quote from the link Chocholo provided:

“Commercial”, using our definition, would define ANY work done for a commercial aim (money is not the issue, nor is profit so, for instance, non-profit charity work would be commercial in nature.)"

As indicated from your answers, then I would say “No,” you would need to uninstall the home version if you are currently using it and want to find another solution or upgrade to Professional if you want to stay with Avast.

Tounge in cheek

Lawyer are very funny people

Well, I guess a fair question deserves a decent answer.
Being a lawyer, I guess Grace expects a EULA with all the boring facts that EULA’s use to carry with them.
My advice to Grace is to use the Home version to see if it suits her needs, as to determine if Avast! is worth paying for and as soon as she knows it, switch to the pro version.
Of course we all know that Avast! is well worth paying for :), but for a new user, Alwil offers a great opportunity to find out .

Fast

I can’t recommend using of free avast! Home like trial version of avast!, better is to use trial version of avast! Professional instead.

Of course, your right.
I’m a bit short-sighted, sorry, must be the age ;D

Maybe it is just me, but, I would think a lawyer would know what “commercial use” means. ???
A lawyer’s own business is commercial in it’s very nature. ::slight_smile:

Hi CharleyO…

Perhaps he/she was thinking in terms of using Avast on a system that was physically located at their residence but still using it for work related projects.

This might sound a bit far fetched but I’ve heard reasoning far more stretched.

Regards…

No that doesn’t sound tooo!! far fetched? come on the only physical local a lawyer thinks about is situated
around the hip pocket  QC

Hi tednelly…

Hi tednelly…

Hey, no problem, not to worry

And greetings from the States!

I am sorry if I am wrong. But, when I read those posts, it seemed to me to be someone trying to get a “sneeky” OK to use Home in a professional setting.
