For me the best option is not to have opened an account in the first place.
True, I also hate this FB …
yeah tell that to the 700.000.000 users worldwide :
edit: no matter whether you like it or not, just stating the obvious, FB must be as secure as possible, period.
Well having all your connections as https, doesn’t necessarily make it more secure.
If this measure is across the board all links and not just for logon-on, account settings, etc. Then the https connection prevents avast form scanning the traffic with the web shield, which could leave you less well protected.
Using the secure https, we can make sure that we may not get redirected fake websites…
Exactly. I think about this every time I open a https website, and always try to load a http version of it. Its very hard to take a decision on this.
Yes, but that doesn’t stop the connection to valid links which have either been hacked or were malicious in any case; there are many such scams on facebook and other social networking sites and using https isn’t going to stop that.
I have several friends on Facebook plus my daughter and husband and my grandson that live a long way away from me so I have to use Facebook.
Bill Pytlovany of WinPatrol fame uses Facebook!
Even avast! has a good Facebook presence:

But you don’t require a facebook account to view materiel only if you are going to post it. You could also use Skype to communicate.
Hi DavidR,
Again totally agree with you, I also stay away from FB and the ad-reaping clutter it produces,
polonus
Skype is not free!
Download Skype and add credithttp://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/features/allfeatures/skype-access/?intcmp=ph1
You’ll need the latest version of Skype and will need to add credit to your account.Pay per minute for what you use
Once connected, you pay using your Skype Credit, only for the minutes you use, charged at 19¢ a minute
I thought it was if it is Skype to Skype, http://www.skype.com/intl/en/prices/. Don’t use it to call phones and it should be free.
Opps looks like already posted
Actually, I guess I am using https in facebook for some time now
You can use the https everywhere addon for Firefox also
