For the developers.... An apparently missing feature in Avast 5.

In Avast 4 it was possible to set up the various “providers/shields” to show details of their actions in the customise option for each provider. The details of what the provider was scanning then would roll up above the task bar.
My wife and I found this very useful when it was enabled for the email “provider/shield”. The main reason we find this useful, is, that on one fateful day, my wifes PC had just been booted up and Avast 4.8 had finished loading, and we suddenly observed the yellow notifications appearing above the task bar. This puzzled us, as my wife doesn’t automatically check email. Looking closer, we realised that Avast 4.8 was scanning outgoing email. Reading the titles of the masses of emails that were being sent, it didn’t take many moments to realise that the PC was operating as a zombie. Had we not had the “show details” option selected on the email shield, we would probably have been blissfully unaware of the situation ! Thus I feel this is a very important option.

I have installed Avast 5.0.418 and cannot seem to find this feature. There is mention of a status bar… but I cannot seem to see any activity details (perhaps it is me who is thick !!), and anyway, it is not practical to have the Avast GUI open at the same time as an email program. Having email shield activities appearing above the taskbar is certainly an easy way of seeing scanner activity and being made aware of the fact that ones PC has been “Botted”, So please, you wonderful and helpful people at Alwil, please can we have that feature back.

Best wishes…
John.

There isn’t that feature, but if avast detect anything a panel will be shown.
Also, there are the logs and statistics for each shield.
