Does anyone know what AvastProbe.exe is!?
I caught it on my system recently when I had to use a process monitor just to find out why I had command prompt opening and closing on my system.
Parent process was the Avast Emergency Updater? Wouldn’t stop causing those command prompt popups every time I rebooted until I did a clean uninstall of premium security and reinstalled from scratch.
The name alone is a tad concerning.
What’s weird about it ??? you’ve already noted it’s part of the Avast Emergency Updater.
Well, when I brought it up with an Avast support agent during the call where we were troubleshooting the issue, they told me they don’t recognize it. So, first i get weird command prompt popups tied to this thing, and then I get someone from Avast telling me they don’t recognize AvastProbe.exe. Definitely still weird so, can someone tell me how something one of their people doesn’t recognize became one of the child processes of their emergency updater executable?
