Found Avast Free Has Transformed Itself to "Trial Pro" AGAIN!!!!!!

I’ve been a very long time user and supporter of Avast, but I’m just about at the end of my patients. At least five times in the last couple of months I’ve opened up Avast to update it and found its transformed from “Avast Free” to “Pro Antivirus” with the “Trial period not activated”. My registration gone and no apparent means of re-registering and returning it to its previous state. Each occurrence I’ve done what the members of this forum recommend, uninstall Avast, download the latest version, and reinstall. On each uninstall I’ve written about the problem in in the “Why are you uninstalling” questionnaire, but gotten no response.

Well this morning its done it again and its getting very old!!! This is my primary machine I use for work (BTW, I work in a technology policy shop!!!) and can’t be spending more time dealing with the machine than I do using it to perform my job. Would someone associated with Avast be so kind to reply with some kind or answer or remedy to this ongoing problem.

hey i would suggest do a clean installation of avast that us ally works.

download latest version of avast.

download and run the uninstall tool.

reboot computer

install the latest version you downloaded.

Thanks for the reply, but as I mentioned in my post, that’s what I’ve done each time I’ve found the problem. In addition to running the Avast uninstall tool I also run a registry cleaner to insure all the remnants of the previous installation are gone.

I’ve performed an uninstall, clean and reinstall for one more time, if it does it again I think it might finally be time to find a new antivirus program and consider a fresh look at the software industry’s exemption from consumer liability!!!
