The procedure entry point GetLogicalProcessorInformation could not be located in the dynamic link library Kernel32.dll
is what i get when i try to use avast free on an xp.
does anyone know of the best free antivirus that works on XP
this forums verification is awfuly hard to read.
The latest version does work on XP but you need a CPU that supports the SSE2 instruction set.
All other (free and paid) av’s I’ve checked require the same.
If possible, upgrade the CPU.
If it isn’t possible it is time for new(er) system.
exactly what does that mean? supports the SSE2 instruction set.
thanks Eddy
it is an intel chip on a Toshiba P100
If your system falls into that category, take a look here:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=164936.msg1322691#msg1322691
See a instruction set as a language and your CPU is the one who needs to listen to and understand it.
avast is talking in SSE2 but your CPU doesn’t know the language and can’t learn a new one.
Simply said it is time to say goodbye to that old system and to get something new(er) if you want to run nowadays applications.
I have answered your other topic started today, https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=203894.msg1401069#msg1401069.
You really should have stuck to this topic, where you already had responses.
all forums are somewhat different.
I found out today HOW to get email notifications on this forum.
it looked like nobody had replied - but of course eddy had replied.
