Free/Pro Differences

Best I can tell, the only differences between Free and Pro is faster updates, sandbox, and script blocking (but only in 32bit and IE). (http://www.avast.com/comparison-chart)

Is this true?

And what does “faster updates” mean? Does that refer to the speed of download, how quickly updates are made available, or the frequency of automatic updating?

Thanks!

.

faster updates (= frequency or priority , and not download speed ;D ) I don’t think so. There are two updates a day maximum and I’m not sure at all that “pro” users have any sort or priority…to be confirmed, or not…I’m using AIS after having used “free”, and I didn’t notice any difference (for auto-updates).

sandbox yes (well, it’s in the list  )
script blocking works in both 64 and 32 bit OS, but is restricted to IE yes, or anything else running a script in Windows, with the exception of Firefox, Chrome and Opera ;D

And SeaMonkey.

so Scriptblocking doen’t work with Firefox? Why NOT then because it is one of the biggets Browsers!!

I also didn’t see any difference between free, pro and ais. You can only set the update interval lower than in the free version, but that doesn’t help much, if no updates are available…

Use Noscript in firefox…

Is NoScript inmportent for the safety? Do you think it is neceserry too have NoScript?? Because i am not a advanced user.

Yes and yes…

When i run mozilla firefox with no script in the sanbox from avast the no script doesn’t work , when i run it out of the sandbox no script does work is this normal or is there something wrong?? If i run mozilla in sandbox is no sript also neceserry then?

is any sandbox like protection present on avast free home edition to safely browse suspicious websites…?

It works Now i’ve reinstalled No Script

Well done and good choice…!! ;D

No, there’s no sandboxing in the free version…
You can use sandboxie to get that. (http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?FrequentlyAskedQuestions)

Not everyone agrees on the usefulness of NoScript.

and second, there’s been issues in the past between the ABP team and the the NS team… they just hate(d?) each other…both are the best extensions in Firefox, hence the rivalry etc…

adding: that you can block ads with NS, but hey, you can’t block scripts with ABP ;D (don’t make deductions, I use both)

The fact that it was written a few years ago makes no difference. Palant addresses the general approach and philosophy behind NoScript, in light of the Firefox framework. Or, if I’m wrong, tell me what point(s) Palant made have been made irrelevant by the mere passage of time. Or, for that matter, what point(s) are incorrect or irrelevant because of the so-called rivalry?

If you don’t like it, don’t use it.

If I had to choose between AdBlock Plus and NoScript, I’d keep NoScript. A good Hosts file can do much(not all) that AdBlock Plus does, although it takes a little more overhead.
