Why does it scan for bugs then after saying you have some, it wont repair and says I need to renew? Just put it in last week…help please… :-[
I’m sure you are not really able to demonstrate that avast won’t repair anything, but rather it didn;t repair some thing or things it found on your PC.
The short answer is that many infections by their nature simply cannot be repaired.
If the baddies have replaced a duck named ducky with a cane toad named ducky, no amount of repair will change the cane toad into duck, your only choice is to get rid of the cane toad.
If you really want some help, you would have to provide some more information. Saying what operating system you have and exactly what avast reported would be a start.
Trojans generally can’t be repaired, because the entire content of the file is malware, so it is either move to chest or delete, move to the chest being the best option (first do no harm). When a file is in the chest it can’t do any harm and you can investigate the infected warning.
So there are going to be many occasions where repair won’t be an option.
Only true virus infection can be repaired, e.g. when a virus infects a file it adds a small part to it, then it may be possible to repair the file to its uninfected state. That is of course that particular virus has a cleaning routine, many of the new file infectors make that almost impossible as the removal could leave the file corrupt.
However, for the most part so called viruses, trojans (adware/spyware/malware, etc.) can’t be repaired because the complete content of the file is malicious.

You’re totally right ! 
Avast 5 can’t repair anything ! not even a single simple infection .
Where as Kaspersky , Dr.Web , Norton , Nod32 and many other popular AVs
can disinfect and repair many viruses especially Sality and Virut .
Please don’t say that no AV can disinfect a file without damaging it , as
reality shows that it CAN ;D
I hope one day you’ll make Avast a better program by making it able to clean viruses
instead of just showing an error message .

hm…100 millions of users are blind then they are using a very bad AV and are trusting it!
Avast is the best among all the free AV and also can compete with others paying AVs!
