In years past I’ve always used the free edition. I get a number and send it in and good for another year. Now instead of updating definitions at boot, a red pop up appears saying it will no longer do this unless I purchase the program. I’ve had to no less than 3 times download free in as many months. Am I going to be forced to purchase it now every year? I am disabled as well as a terminal heart patient and do not have the monies most have at hand. What now?
Thanks

are you downloading the correct file?
To install it properly, follow this video:
How to do a clean install of avast! Antivirus.
Well, if I had the wrong address for the download I suppose it really doesn’t matter at all anyway. Downloading it from where you said to go gives me a new file for Avast, but after it’s all said and done, when I reboot, another red pop up comes up and says “my Avast anti virus is good for the next 90 days after which I’ll have to purchase this software” So in the end yes your info was half right, half wrong, because it expires in only 90 days. I’ll just wait till it says expired next time and then decide which company will get my money if I’m forced to buy one.
Do a clean install of the free version, register it and you’ll be good for another year. Simple as that but, follow directions.
