Not when you are advanced as on Win8, but a sfc /scannow should work there… 
Then you have to resort to other means like special commands like you find here:

A command as used for resetting Automatic Windows Updates as proposed by zandubar (see tip-info credits below)
fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\ for instance
