FreezeFrog

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on my 3 year old Compaq/HP laptop.
I’ve been running Google’s Chrome as my browser with no pop-up problems until quite recently. I now have these eerie pop-ups that seem to be phishing for personal information, claiming that I have won a prize from the site I have just visited (like my bank just awarded me a ‘free credit report’ because they are concerned about the safety of my credit information).

the pop-ups all say they are served by FREEZefrog in the lower left corner of the window.

Here’s what I found on Yahoo’s site about it:

Basically there are conflicting posts about what this really is and how dangerous it is, AND what to do about it, whose removal tool to download, etc.

Is there anyone here who has experience with this?

I am NOT a programmer. I follow instructions carefully. I am not afraid that I’ll start globalthermonuclear warfare by hitting the wrong keys on my keyboard. At the same time, I live mostly in the side of my brain that deals with imagination, creativity, and not so much in linear stuff. Therefore, please go easy on me with responses.

Thanks!

Martin
