I rather like the format and features of 5.0 but am fed up with windows closing it down straight after signing in or it always requiring repair with add/remove programme or both.
Is there a website where I can download the old 4.8?
I know I could get a copy thro PC World but don’t know of any technical problems of making the change back.

You can download it from the Avast site - I did last niight so that I could replace th Vesrion 5 that was causing BSOD on my sons Acer Aspire 5720 laptop. The link is http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download#tab4

Well I’ve just realised that with Dial Up going for something with the latest bells & whistles is a doubtful exercise.
Thanks to fatbellybinky I am now back to my trustworthy 4.8 although it took over 3 hours to re-download.
Updater is working fine,so it’s all looking good.
