Front facing pictures are upside down, face detection not working

Hello,

I’m new to using this app but I’m really on the lookout for a good anti-theft system. This app is very impressive but there are two or three hold ups. I’ll just ask about one area (I think the two issues might be related) here.

  1. When I send a command through the web interface to take a picture with the front facing camera the picture is upside down. The back facing camera doesn’t do the same thing. Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this? Normally this wouldn’t be a big issue but I think it leads to issue #2

  2. Also, when I send a command through the website to take a front facing picture when a face is detected it doesn’t work. I’m guessing this has to do with the fact that the camera sees things upside down? Has anyone else experienced this and know how to fix it?

Thanks for your help!

Chris

Sounds to me you need to turn the device 180 degrees ;D

Ha, I guess I could update my lock screen message to say “If found, please use device upside down”. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just remember having read something about it a while back in a post on this webboard.
I’m not sure so don’t take worth for it, but I think it has something to do with avast using the default settings of the device.

Just in case if someone needs/wants it, mention the device, android version and anti-theft version here.
I will ask someone from avast to have a look at your post.

That would be awesome, thanks!

I’m running a rooted stock Nexus 6P running the May security update of the latest Marshmallow version (6.0.1). My Avast Anti Theft version is 3.1.7863.

Well, I’ve been messing around with this more today and the face detection seems to be working. Not sure what changed.

Now the only issue is the front facing picture is upside down but that’s not a major issue.

Latest Anti-theft is version 4.x
Perhaps it has been updated.

Hey guys, thanks to Eddy for the message. As I am not sure what the cause is, I have forwarded it to the AAT product manager, he will get back to you as soon as he can (I guess etiher today or after the weekend), thanks for your patience!

Ah, I already know what is going on.
It is weekend.
The person in front of the camera drunk too much and is standing on his/her head ;D

Ha, you all are great! Thanks again!

Ssst, don’t tell anyone that we are.
We are trying hard to keep people believe that we are not great

But seriously,
you should soon get a reaction from the AT manager (or one of his people)
Although what you have reported is just a small thing, there will be looked at.

You know what would be a good laugh ?
If it turns out the manufacturer has switched two connectors to the camera. HaHaHa.

Hi capt4chris, only one thing came to my mind… What device do you have? It may sound hilarious, but some devices have mounted camera upside down  http://www.theverge.com/2015/11/9/9696774/google-nexus-5x-upside-down-camera

Hi hermansky,

Oh, very interesting! I have a nexus 6P. I don’t know if this device is affected. I glanced through that article but didn’t see it. Thanks!
