We use AVAST pro on a small business network, and we use FTP daily via WS_FPT PRO. We have used these for several years with no problems. Then on Friday we had to replace our 2WIRE BT Business Modem (the previous one failed). When we reconnected AVAST internet security detected a new network and I set the option to “Medium Risk” as we were connecting to the outside world via BT Broadband. From that point on all FTP connections via all machines to all FTP servers were blocked. I know the problem is not the BT firewall because a) If I connect a laptop with AVAST Free to the same network with the BT modem then FPT works ok, and b) If I switch my avast pro setting to “Low Risk” then the FTP service works again. I have checked the FPT settings for Ipswich within FTP Pro and they are set to “all connections”.
Can anyone help? I don’t really want to set the broadband connection to “Low Risk” all the time.

- Avast free/pro is for client machines.
- Are you using Avast server edition on the server?
- Why using ftp on a business network?
- You replaced the modem/router. Have you ever checked the settings?
