After applying the latest update (Free version) yesterday, I ran a full scan and it completed immediately (literally 1 second) indicating nothing was found. I next ran a boot scan but when looking for the report, I find the report folder is missing and no report text file is found. Running a targeted scan now and that seems to be working ok. Any ideas why the full scan completes so quickly or what happened to the report folder/report file? Follow-up: I tried to manually create the report folder but was unsuccessful since I need permission to do so. Full scan does not show up in history of scans.
Targeted scan (all drives) completed with no issues found.
Thanks all for your replies. I followed the first repair method and that fixed the Full Scan issue (running a Full Scan now).
I still do not have a Report folder in C:/Program Files/AVAST Software/Avast location. Will one be created if I execute a Boot Time scan or will I never see a Boot Time scan report again?
The Boot-Time scan generates a report file called “aswBoot.txt” which is found in the folder Bob mentioned - C:\ProgramData\Avast Software\Avast\report\ Please note, this is the \ProgramData\ folder, not the \Program Files\ folder (where the log.dll file is located).
The other scan reports should be generated in the C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report folder, but you may have to enable this option first. To do this, please open the “Virus Scans” screen > click the settings ‘cog’ icon in the top right of the screen > scroll down to the bottom of the “Full Virus Scan” tab and check the box next to “Generate report file”.
You can enable the report files in the same manner for each of the other scan types on their respective tabs except for the Boot-Time scan (which will always generate the log file).
BWhit, thanks for the clarification. I did not see a ProgramData folder on the C drive until I also viewed hidden folders. Thus, founf the missing report folder and boot scan report file right where you said it would be.
