Full scan stuck on SVC:{hex numbers}>???

Avast is stuck on an SVC entry ending in >? ? ? on a Full System Scan which was automatically scheduled over night.

Run time is now over 11 hours, and still incrementing.

Speed seems steady at 621.5 KB per second.

Tested files/folders count is stuck at 105230/1.

This is the second night it has stuck on a SVC entry.

I have run a quick scan - O.K.

I scheduled a scan on reboot - this also didn’t report anything wrong.

Any ideas on what is causing this and how to fix?

Cheers

Try a repair…Control Panel>Uninstall a Program>double click “avast”>click “repair”>reboot.

The same thing happened with me when I was running v8.0.xxxx and the repair seemed to fix it.

Thanks - I got deeply entangled because I had a load of Windows Updates in progress and they kept hanging.

They wouldn’t install, the Microsoft Fixit locked up, and virtually nothing was working.

In the end I uninstalled Avast in Safe Mode after which the MS Fixit worked and I managed to get the Windows Updates to work - although after you clear all the update history it takes a LONG time for Windows Update to sort itself out again. Talking hours.

Running on MS Security Essentials at the moment - not sure if I will go back to Avast although I liked the update tracker for other products like browsers, and especially the Talk Like A Pirate language option ;D

I lost a full day and a lot of peace and relaxation before I finally fixed this, which has made me wary.
