Hello smart people:
Something hacked into my email and was sending out home.php links to everyone in my address book.
I did a full system scan with the free avast download. Found 18 files that had virus, the recommendation was to move them to the chest. When I did only 6 moved successfully the others are now showing an error 2 cannot find file others read only file.
So what do I do now??? Do I have to download more software to remove the bad files? Do I just delete the read only files?
Please be kind I am a computer idiot with no money otherwise I would have taken it in to someone.
Open the avast! user interface and on the left-hand side locate Real-time Shields. Select one of the shields then Expert Settings>Actions. You can configure what actions you want avast! to take when it uncovers a threat. Then right below that under Options, make sure “If necessary perform the selected action at the next system restart” is checked. It should be checked by default. Go through all the shields and set the actions you want, then restart and see if it will take care of them.
If that doesn’t work you could try a Boot Scan. On the left-hand side of the user interface locate Scan Computer then Boot-time Scan. Click Schedule Now then restart. avast! will scan before the operating system loads and might more effectively remove whatever it is. I’m not sure what it does when it finds something but I would keep an eye on it cause it might ask for input from you.
Try that and report back. Hopefully that’ll fix it.
ok Avast is free, good as long as it’s free.
If your computer is fast enough, try uninstall ( add/delete widows program), download norton 360 30 days free trial 2010 trail version. update and scan your computer once. It should do the work to get rid the virus. Then feel free to use the norton till it expires. Do’t forget to scan your computer before it expires. Then reinstall the Avast.
See if it works
What is with all this mess??Uninstall Avast, download Norton…pffffff…(since when Norton is an virus expert, and Avast is not??)
Jenny, grab a copy of free MalwareBytes Antimalware, and Emsisoft(A Squared) antimalware free…do a scan with both of them and see what they find. And you can keep Avast, don’t have to uninstall.Neither the two copies of MBAM and A Squared. They are very good as on demand scanners.
Please,if you are a Norton fan…show your love elsewhere…wrong forum.
Working what?Install 360,for what,just to scan???Please,be serious,or better,try do to something useful instead to write…bull…
A sincere advice, if saying as 'computer idiot (… :P).
The more you download , the more you get into trouble. Free is good, Avast is good. I have been using Norton, McAfee, CA antivirus, Trend Micro, AVG. Still putting a thumb up for Avast but if you get into trouble, get back to basic. You don’t know what you are downloading from…just caution .
You can always use a recue cd to easily remove all your viruses and threats. Thats other thing Avast Bart cd isnt free. If you have it just boot it through it and and select the updated database from your installed avast directory/DATA/400.vps
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Alternatively you have free Avira Antivir rescue cd using linux environment to load itself and then scan your system…
